Evidence-Based Psychotherapy
FOR ADULTS WITH MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS
Online Individual & Group Therapy in New York
Acknowledging the need for support is an incredibly brave step — I’m so happy that you are here.
Hi, I’m Dr. Kate Herts, a licensed clinical psychologist in New York City. I’m also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College.
I work with adults in individual and group therapy, and specialize in treating adults with chronic medical conditions such as cancer, Lupus, Crohn’s disease, and Cystic Fibrosis. My additional areas of expertise include helping adults navigate the LGBTQIA+ experience and women’s health concerns, as well as depression, anxiety and trauma.
Although you may not yet be able to fully appreciate your strength and resilience, I am here to hold this vision for you as we work together to guide you towards a life of deep fulfillment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Evidence-Based Interventions
I aim to help you connect deeply with yourself and become your own therapist so that you can feel empowered and capable of handling life’s many challenges and opportunities.
I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and draw from related evidence-based interventions to meet the needs of each individual patient.
First and foremost, I hope to provide a safe space for you to explore areas of vulnerability. I will partner with you to think about these areas in a helpful way and to identify active behavioral changes you can make in the service of lasting, positive change.
My therapy groups draw from CBT interventions to help young adults with chronic medical conditions build community, thrive in their careers, and navigate the medical system.
